About
Named after the fifth month of the year [May], ironically enough, I was born a full month later. However, since a cousin was already named June, and blasphemy, there can’t be 2 Junes running around the house at family gatherings, so my parents decided to go back a month and named me Mei.
I’m just thankful they didn’t go a month forward and named me Joo Lye [July, geddit?].
I used to be a copywriter, but now that I’m unemployed, I’m going on a Bikram bender and aiming to practice Bikram Yoga EVERY SINGLE DAY until teacher training. That is, if I get the funds. So if you think you’ll like to help out a starving writer [with freelance jobs, with funds, with love, anything!], chat me up at meimei2606 [at] g m a i l dot c o m.
Why would a flexible girl like me want to practice yoga? Wouldn’t that make me a rock star in every class – the kind that gets everyone going “WAAAH!” ? Contrary to popular belief, yoga isn’t for the naturally flexible [I hereby blame my Asian genes]. Rather, yoga [Bikram Yoga in particular] is for me to build strength and work with my flexibility in order to unite my mind and body together.
I have been blogging for 7 years now, so if you’d like to read all my teenage vitriol and angst, you’re more than welcome to visit my old self here. Yes, I’ve been keeping an online journal far longer than those popular ones, way back when it was called a “community” instead of “Hello, would you like to advertise on my blog so I can achieve my 2 minutes of internet famedom?”.
Above all, I don’t answer to anyone except myself. Oh, and my pets when they want dinner.
